This is the blog post to accompany Episode 1 of the New In Town podcast:
Location, location, location: where to live in Edmonton
On this episode I interview Janelle Smaill, my own personal realtor and friend, about the different neighbourhoods in Edmonton and how to choose the right one for you. Along the way, in addition to Edmonton real estate, we discuss many of our favourite spots in and around town, as well as some great resources for loving life here.
If you want to get in touch with Janelle, here’s her info:

Great Podcast! I love how the two of you know of so many delicious little gems hidden, or not so hidden, around the city. Some helpful information, and loved how good points were made about all of the communities. I found myself smiling throughout, because I could hear how much fun the two of you were having.
Man, is that good to hear! We did have a ton of fun, I just love my friends and my city. As I was editing, I could think of a million more great gems we missed but this is only the first episode so I guess that’s ok, right? Thanks so much for the comment, Kelly. Take another look at the blog post in a minute because I’m about to add a custom map with all the gems pinned on it.
Great! I love Steak and Kidney pie- you got me excited to go try out the curling rink!
Tbh, I’ve never had steak and kidney pie there, it just sprang to mind when I thought of British classics. I can vouch for his high tea, cornish pasties, sausage rolls, roast beef with Yorkshire pudding, and fish n chips.
Can you send me an email at nadine@nadineriopel.com so I can put you in the prize draw for this episode?
